Hello everyone!

I am fresh off of the plane coming back from Houston as I got to spend a few days at home during the Florida State League All-Star break.

The break couldn't have come at a better time as I was able to spend time with all of my family. Two of my sisters, Jessie and Nicole, celebrate their birthdays this month along with my Mom, whose birthday is this week. And of course, Sunday was Father's Day, and I was able to spend some time with him. I am very thankful for all that my family has done for me and being able to see them was a blessing.

Although technically we have one more series left in the first half, these past few days served as a time to take a breather and get ready for the second half, which will be more of a grind than the first half.

It is starting to get really hot here in Florida as I have seen as high as 97 degrees during batting practice. As a team, I think everyone was ready for a few days off. We have let some games get away from us, and I think that the team is ready to start clean and win a few more games in the second half.

After a short practice yesterday, I was able to watch some of the College World Series. It brought back a lot of great memories, but unfortunately I had to watch as my Rice Owls lost to Fresno State.

The past two years, we won the first two games in Omaha only to drop the next two. So maybe this year Rice will have a better outcome playing from behind.

Now for a question from the fans:

Tom Bradley asks: What are you looking forward to the most in the second half?

I think the first half was a great learning experience. The stats can be frustrating to look at, but the first half allowed to me to see a lot of things that I hadn't seen in the past. I believe I have come up with a game plan when it comes to pitching. Execution is obviously very different, but knowing what I want to do will hopefully have a positive effect.

Thanks again for reading, and Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there. I'm off to pick up my new golf clubs. Even though I'm nothing short of terrible at golf, I am looking forward to playing in the future.
