Naturals' Broadcaster Davis to Join UMKC Hoops
"Steven is a bright, young talent who has a great future ahead of him," said Hall. "We are pleased to have him in such a pivotal role as we continue to advance the reputation and reach of UMKC Athletics."
He will not be leaving his post as broadcaster and Baseball Operations Coordinator for the Naturals, but rather performing his new duties during baseball's winter off-season.
"We believe in Steven we have a major league caliber broadcaster, and we're thrilled that he's expanding his broadcasting horizons," Naturals General Manager Eric Edelstein said. "We're of course also excited to continue to have him as the voice of the Naturals."
Davis, 26, had spent the last three seasons with the Idaho Falls Chukars, the Kansas City Royals' Pioneer League affiliate. Along with his broadcasting duties, he coordinated all media and public relations for the team. During the past three off-seasons, Davis served as a television commentator for the University of Kansas' Women's Basketball and the lead play-by-play broadcaster for High School Football and Basketball games in Topeka, KS.
Davis' father Bob has spent the past 11 seasons broadcasting for the Kansas City Royals and has logged 24 years broadcasting football and basketball at the University of Kansas.
Naturals' fans will be able to hear Davis broadcast all 140 Northwest Arkansas games during the 2008 season on KURM/AM 790 as well as on our website at www.nwanaturals.com. Some games are also simulcast on KURM's station, 100.3 FM.
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and play at state-of-the-art Arvest Ballpark, located in Springdale. The Naturals have a toll-free ticket hotline (1-877-444-2637) for fans to purchase Naturals tickets.
