Illinois Attorney General files lawsuit against Eagle Marketing

Affected businesses should contact their state attorney general

The Illinois Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against a marketing firm that was selling advertising, including on team schedules, without legal authorization to do so. A number of local Quad Cities business have been contacted with similar proposals, the River Bandits have been informed.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan filed a lawsuit Feb. 14 against The Eagle Marketing Group LLC, based in Edgewood, Ky. According to a release by the attorney general's office, Madigan filed the lawsuit "for unfairly inducing businesses to pay for advertising in promotional materials" for Southern Illinois University, including a men's basketball schedule. According to their respective websites, The Eagle Marketing Group LLC and Sports Schedules Ltd., the company that recently contacted local Quad Cities businesses about advertising on an unauthorized Quad Cities River Bandits poster schedule, share the same address in Kentucky.

Any business approached about advertising on Quad Cities River Bandits schedules or any other promotional material should make sure that they are dealing with an authorized representative or employee of the River Bandits.
