Chris Marrero placed on disabled list
The 2006 first-round draft pick suffered the injury while sliding into home plate in the top of the fourth inning of Wednesday's game against the Winston-Salem Warthogs. The 19-year-old makes his first trip to the DL during his three-year professional career, and no timetable has been set for his return.
Marrero appeared in 70 games with the P-Nats this season, batting .250, and his 11 home runs and 38 RBI ranked second on the team. The Miami, Fla., native helped fuel a Potomac offense that posted the highest team batting average (.265) and second-most home runs (68) in the Carolina League.
Rhinehart, an 11th-round selection by the Washington Nationals in 2007, has never played above Low-A in his brief career. The 23-year-old was having a solid season with the Suns prior to his call-up, hitting .295 with nine home runs and 56 RBI. The Orangevale, Calif., native was named a South Atlantic League All-Star and was selected as the "Star of Stars" after going 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in the contest.
The University of Arizona product began his professional career in 2007 with Short-Season Vermont where he led the team in batting average (.299), hits (64), RBI (43), and doubles (18), and earned New-York Penn League All-Star honors.
With the addition of Rhinehart, Potomac's active roster remains at 25 with 13 pitchers and 12 position players.
