Royals Spring Training Recap: March 8
SPRINGDALE, Ark. - The Kansas City Royals had a pair of split-squad games rained out on Friday. In the afternoon game, the Royals had a 3-2 lead over the Cleveland Indians in the third inning before rain stopped the game. The game was called after a delay of just over one hour and will not be made up. Prior to the rain, former Natural David Lough brought home fellow Natural alum Alex Gordon on a sacrifice fly in the first inning. 2010 Natural Jarrod Dyson had two steals in the game, while 2012 Natural Noel Arguelles pitched two innings, giving up his lone hit on a leadoff home run to Drew Stubbs. Arguelles was optioned to the Naturals following the game.
In the nightcap, the Royals trailed the Colorado Rockies 3-1 after four innings, but rain prevented the completion of that game held at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. The game will also not be made up. The Royals will host the San Francisco Giants on Saturday in Scottsdale, AZ at 2:05 p.m.
