LumberKings help out flood victims

June 29, 2008
On Wednesday, July 3, when Beloit takes on the Clinton LumberKings right here at Pohlman Field, the Snappers will be donating 50 cents of every ticket sold to help out the victims of the recent floods. The recipients of the donation include the four Minor League Baseball cities affected in Iowa (25 cents per ticket) as well as the flood victims right here in Rock County (25 cents per ticket).

Minor League Baseball is heading up the relief effort in Iowa by donating $50,000 themselves to get the fund kicked off. They also have requested that teams around the country consider donating a portion of their ticket sales to help out the cause. The teams affected by the flooding in Iowa include the Burlington Bees, Cedar Rapids Kernels, Quad Cities River Bandits and Iowa Cubbies.

The Stateline United Way has also set up a flood recovery fund for long-term assistance to help out those affected right here in the stateline area. The Snappers will donate 25 cents per ticket sold on July 3 to this fund in hopes to help out those in need.

During the game that day, the Snappers will also be accepting cash donations from fans in attendance to help out these two causes. For more information on the July 3rd game between the Snappers and LumberKings beginning at 7:00pm, stop by Pohlman Field located at 2301 Skyline Drive in Beloit.
