PawSox and Tides battle to a 1-1 tie in Ft. Myers
The Pawtucket Red Sox and the Norfolk Tides battled to a 1-1 tie on Wednesday afternoon in Fort Myers, FL.
PawSox 3B Michael Almanzar crushed a solo HR (#1) in the bottom of the 6th-inning to even things at 1-1 after Norfolk had pushed across their lone run of the game in the top of the 6th-inning to take a short-lived 1-0 lead. Almanzar had 2 hits on the day while SS Xander Bogaerts and RF Bryce Brentz each stroked a double to account for the four PawSox hits in the game.
Steven Wright started and used his knuckleball to toss 4 scoreless innings allowing 4 singles and 2 walks along with 5 strikeouts. Kyle Kaminska was touched for a run during his 4 strong innings of work with 4 strikeouts. Will Latimer pitched a scoreless 9th-inning but the game was deemed a tie after the PawSox failed to score in the bottom of the 9th-inning.
Pawtucket is now 3-3-1 this spring. They travel to Port Charlotte, FL on Thursday afternoon to take on the Durham Bulls.
