Two Exhibition Games Announced

Indians to Face Collegiate Teams
February 23, 2006
The Burlington Indians, the Appalachian League affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, have announced two preseason home contests. These exhibition games will be against the Monroe (NC) Channel Cats of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League and the Thomasville (NC) HiToms of the Coastal Plain League.

"We're excited to bring our fans extra home games against some quality opponents," said Burlington General Manager Mark Cryan. "This also gets us started sooner."

The first game will be against the Channel Cats on Thursday, June 15. This will be the Indians first "Thirsty Thursdays," featuring $1 drinks. The Indians will then face the HiToms on Saturday, June 17.

The Channel Cats are located outside of Charlotte and have three players from Guilford College, located in Greensboro, NC: David Whigham (Junior, RHP, Ocean City, Md.), Logan Collier (Junior, RHP, Rural Hill, N.C.) and Joe Overby (Junior, RHP, Winston-Salem, N.C.). Whigham and Collier shared the Most Valuable Pitcher Award at Guilford in 2005, while Overby is in his first season as a Quaker after transferring from North Carolina Wesleyan.

The HiToms are located in Thomasville, NC, and a member of the Coastal Plains League. Roster information has not been released for the team at this time.
