B.J. Szymanski Lifted a Sacrifice Fly in the 9th Inning

July 11, 2008
Buffalo, NY - The Louisville Bats won their fourth straight game while they shut out the Buffalo Bisons for the second consecutive night, 1-0.

Ramon Ramirez pitched a gem, but did not factor into the decision. In his longest outing of the season, Ramirez went seven innings and over the course of the game, gave up one hit in the first, second and seventh innings. He didn't allow a run and struck out seven Bisons batters. Daniel Ray Herrera (1-3, 2.56) earned his first career Triple-A win while Matt Belisle nailed down his second save of the season.

The Louisville offense had their chances, leaving eight men on base, but the lone run came in the ninth inning off a B.J. Szymanski sacrifice fly. Ryan Hanigan led off the inning with a single and scored the winning run.

Preston Larrison (2-3, 3.05) was the hard-luck loser for Buffalo as he pitched the final two innings. David Huff started for the Bisons and struck out five Bats in five innings.

The Bats and Bisons meet Saturday for game three of the four-game series at Dunn Tire Park. RHP Justin Mallett (2-1, 5.23) will start for Louisville while Buffalo's starter is TBA. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
