Fausto Carmona to Start for Captains on Monday

(Eastlake, OH) - The Lake County Captains announced that the 2003 South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Year, Fausto Carmona will be the starting pitcher for the Captains on Monday. Carmona will start as part of his rehabilitation from a left hip strain that put him on the disabled list on May 24th. Game time is 7:05 pm at Classic Park.

Carmona, a 24 year old right hander out of Santo Domingo, DR, played for the Captains in 2003 where he posted a 17-4 record with an ERA of 2.06. He was a South Atlantic League All Star. He was also named to the Baseball America low class "A" all star team. His 17 wins were best in the entire Indians organization. Carmona was the first Lake County Captain to play for the Cleveland Indians. He made his major league debut on April 15th and defeated the Detroit Tigers. He was the first Indian to win their debut start since 2002.

Carmona was 19-8 with the Indians last year, which was the most wins by an Indians right hander since Bert Blyleven had nineteen wins in 1984. He finished fourth in the Cy Young voting in 2007. Carmona and CC Sabathia were the first Indians teammates since 1956 to win nineteen or more games and the first teammates in MLB to accomplish that feat since 2002.

Tickets for the Play Offs remain the same as regular season game tickets, $9 reserved seat, $7 bleachers, juniors, and seniors, $6 lawn. Lawn seats for the Play Offs will only be sold once the reserved seats and bleachers are sold out. The $7 group rate will still apply to groups of 20 or more.
