Rain Causes Cancellation of Series Finale
The game was delayed in the bottom of the second inning. In the top of the frame, the Whitecaps scored one run. The Bees answered in the bottom of the inning. With one out, David Lough singled and then stole second base. After Kyle Martin walked, Zach Evangelho hit an infield single to score Lough. Ryan Eigsti then hit a single that scored Martin and Evangelho. The game was then placed in a rain delay.
The rain delay lasted over two hours with all indications from umpires Tom Honec and Ben Karis that the game would be played. After much discussion, which included Whitecaps hitting coach Benny Distefano being thrown out of the game, the two umpires changed course and cancelled the contest.
The Bees open a series against Cedar Rapids Wednesday night at Community Field. Matt Mitchell is the scheduled starter. First pitch is set for 7:00. The game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com.
