2013 New Britain Rock Cats Roster Set For Opening Day
The New Britain Rock Cats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, has announced its 2013 Opening Day Roster. The Rock Cats will begin the season with three top prospects listed by MLB.COM and four players on the Twins' 40 Man Major League Roster. Naugatuck native, Pat Dean, who pitched briefly at New Britain in 2011 will be in the Rock Cats starting rotation. Eric Farris (Brewers-2012) and Antoan Richardson (Braves 2011) have played in the Major Leagues. 13 players are returning from last years New Britain club. The Rock Cats have 25 players on the active roster including 12 Pitchers, 3 catchers, 7 infielders and 3 outfielders.
The Twins acquired RHP Alex Meyer from the Nationals in exchange for OF Denard Span and acquired RHP Trevor May (Phillies) in exchange for OF Ben Revere this past winter. This is Meyer's first time in Double-A while May pitched in the Eastern League in Reading last season. May was the Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Year.
