Iowa Falls To Tucson, 10-7

The Iowa Cubs dropped their second game in a row to the Tucson Sidewinders, as they came-from-behind to defeat Iowa, 10-7, Wednesday night at Tucson Electric Park.

Andres Torres led off the game with a triple and later scored on Casey McGehee's sacrifice fly for the early 1-0 Iowa advantage.

Tucson tied the game 1-1 in the second inning when Josh Whitesell led of with a double and was driven in by Robby Hammock's sac fly to centerfield. An inning later, the Sidewinders took a 2-1 lead.

However, the Cubs plated three in the fourth inning when Bobby Scales and McGehee hit back-to-back singles before Josh Kroeger doubled to drive in the two runs.

Kroeger scored on an RBI single by Koyie Hill to put the Cubs ahead 4-2. Hill was 2-for-4 on the night, with four RBI while Kroeger was 1-for-2 with two runs scored an two RBI.

The Cubs maintained the lead until the Sidewinders exploded for seven runs in the seventh inning. Hammock led things off with a solo shot to left. Jeff Salazar brought in the second run of the inning with a RBI single to center. The last five runs of the inning all came with two outs. Tim Raines, Jr. hit a two RBI double to left. Whitesell followed with a single scoring two runs and Jesus Merchan brought in Whitesell with a triple to left. Hammock drove in Merchan with a single to left for the last run of the inning, and the 9-4 lead.

Jason Dubois started Iowa's three-run rally in the eighth inning with a single, followed by a walk and Hill's three-run home run to trim Tucson's lead 9-7. However, it was not enough as the Sidewinders would go on to add one more run in their half of the inning for a 10-7 win.

Mike Burns (7-7) was tagged with the loss for Iowa while Connor Robertson (6-2) picked up the win.
