Cardinals Name Andrew Sims Assistant General Manager

Cardinals Announce Andrew Sims as Assistant General Manager

The Johnson City Cardinals and Johnson City Sports Foundation have announced that Andrew Sims has been hired as Assistant General Manager. Sims joins the organization after spending the past three years as a recruiting and operations assistant for Indiana University Football in Bloomington, Indiana.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to come to Johnson City and work for an organization that has had so much success both on and off the field", said Sims. "I look forward getting involved in the community, meeting with the fans and to continue to help build on the solid foundation that the Johnson City Sports Foundation has laid down."

Sims' first year in professional baseball came in 2011 when he worked for the Appalachian League's Burlington Royals as a baseball operations intern. He has also been heavily involved in Little League Baseball, working as an umpire and site director for several seasons in his home state of Indiana.

Sims expressed his appreciation for his former employers by stating, "I am very grateful for the opportunities I had at Indiana and in Burlington. I worked with successful and outstanding people in both places that helped me reach the position I am in today."

Sims is a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and a 2012 graduate of Indiana University receiving a degree in Sport Marketing and Management.

 

The 2013 Season marks Johnson City's 39th consecutive year of affiliation with the eleven time World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals and the 10th season the Johnson City Cardinals will be managed by the nonprofit Johnson City Sports Foundation (JCSF).  Proceeds from the Cardinals' season help provide grants for local youth sports and education programs.
