Archie Bradley Dominates as Rawhide Blank Giants 1-0

Rawhide pick up first win of the season on Friday night at Rawhide Ballpark
April 5, 2013

VISALIA - Top prospect Archie Bradley and the rest of the pitching staff shut down the San Jose Giants by a score of 1-0 on Friday night at Rawhide Ballpark to pick up their first win of the season and improve their record to 1-1 on the season.

Bradley was dominant for much of the evening, commanding his electric fastball to frustrate San Jose offense throughout the contest. Bradley went 5.2 innings and allowed zero runs on just four hits while fanning nine and walking three batters. He got himself out of trouble in the third inning by striking out Angel Villanola with the bases loaded to keep the game tied at 0-0.

Edwin Escobar was impressive for the Giants as well, throwing 5.0 shutout innings and allowing just three hits with six strikeouts.

The Rawhide threatened throughout the evening but were never able to string enough hits together to get on the board. That was until the 6th inning when Sean Jamieson hit a solo shot to deep right field to give the Rawhide a 1-0 lead and provide the final score of the evening.

The Rawhide bullpen did a phenomenal job to hang onto the lead, allowing no hits over the final 3.1 innings. Jake Barrett made things interesting in the 9th, giving up a single and hitting two batters before getting Eliezer Zambrano to fly out to right field to end the game, picking up his first save of the season.

Visalia will be at it again tomorrow for the first All-American Saturday of the season as they face off against the Giants for the third game of this four game series with first pitch scheduled to come at 6 o'clock. Tickets are available at the Rawhide box office and at RawhideBaseball.com.
