Name the Ostrich Finalists Announced

(Reading, Pa.)---After a week where the Reading Fightin Phils received over 400 entries to name the team's pair of ostriches, the finalists are down to five names. 

Between today and Opening Night, Friday, April 12, fans will be able to vote for their favorites from a collection of five finalists as part of the name selection process.  The winning pair of names will be announced during the pre-game next Friday. The five finalists are:

•    Ruth & Judy
•    Amelia & Sally
•    Ketchup & Mustard
•    Dottie & Kitt
•    Phyllis & Phannie

The fans who picked the finalists' names will be contacted by a Fightin Phils representative leading up to Opening Day. The contest is brought to you by Steve Moyer Subaru and 830 AM WEEU.

The announced finalists are part of the "Name the Ostrich" contest being held by the Fightin Phils. Earlier this week, the team debuted a pair of live ostriches as part of an exciting, unique partnership between the Reading Fightin Phils and the Berks County and Pennsylvania agriculture community.

The Reading Fightin Phils wouldn't be able to welcome the ostriches without the help of Steve Moyer Subaru, Senator Judy Schwank, Honorable Matthew Meals from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Sheila Miller from Barks Agricultural Resource Network, Future Farmers of America, Kutztown Bird and Animal Hospital, and University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine's New Bolton Center.
