E-towns new mascot has it all.
With the 2006 Appalachian League Baseball season only months away, Rookie has returned from a brief spell of mascot hibernation to once again begin his important role as Twins President of Mascot Affairs. Over the next few months Rookie will be making his rounds to various school functions, little league openings, children's hospitals, and other community events. "We feel very fortunate to have been able to bring Rookie to Elizabethton," said Harold Mains, Elizabethton Twins President. "In the short time he has been with us we have seen first hand the excitement he generates both on and off the Field".
Rookie was acquired by way of a very special sponsorship. Wayne Hodge State Farm insurance saw first hand the importance of a team mascot for not only Twins games but also the positive impact it could provide through various community functions. His business basically paid for the entire expense and from that the Elizabethton Twins now have a new baseball attraction at Joe O'Brien Field.
For now, Rookie spends his days getting in shape for the upcoming season. Those long hot summer days will be a challenge for this large ball of tumbling green fur, but Rookie like last season will be ready play. He will once again bring a new form of family entertainment to one of Minor League Baseball's most unique stadiums.
