Andrew Kown sent to Potomac
Kown was signed by the Washington Nationals as a minor league free agent in July after he was released by the Detroit Tigers. The right-hander struggled in just two appearances out of the bullpen with the Senators giving up eight runs on eight hits in just 2 1/3 innings.
Prior to joining the Nationals, the Georgia Tech University product spent the majority of the 2008 season with the Double-A Erie SeaWolves. The 25-year-old pitched primarily as a starter going 5-9 with a 5.38 ERA in 17 games. Originally drafted by Detroit in the fifth round of the 2004 draft, Kown is expected to start the P-Nats game tomorrow night against the Winston-Salem Warthogs.
With the addition of Kown, Potomac's active roster now stands at 25 with 13 pitchers and 12 position players.
