Beavers host Speed Dating Night

August 11, 2008
The Portland Beavers return home from a quick road trip to play host to an action-packed homestand starting Tuesday against the Fresno Grizzlies at PGE Park.

Among the many activities, this week's homestand features a doubleheader, the final edition of Bark in the Park, Speed-Dating Night and Civil War Night.

Portland Trail Blazers power forward Channing Frye will kick things off by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before Tuesday's series opener with the Grizzlies.

The Beavers play their first of two doubleheaders at home this month on Wednesday while featuring Bark in the Park presented by Health Net Insurance. Fans are invited to bring their dogs to the ballpark for a double dose of Beavers baseball, with the first of two, seven-inning games against Fresno beginning at 6:05 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Dogs and their owners are invited to run the bases after the second game.

In-state, collegiate rivals join forces to support the Portland Beavers on Civil War Night presented by U.S. Bank on Friday. Supporters of Oregon State University and the University of Oregon will take part in several in-game competitions pitting the rival fans. Fans of the OSU Beavers and Oregon Ducks are encouraged to wear their team colors and school gear to receive special ticket discounts at the PGE Park box office.

The Beavers will also play host to Speed-Dating Night on a Miller Lite Thursday as they take on the Grizzlies live on FSN. The speed dating will be held at field level in the Widmer area of PGE Park and will afford rounds of 12 males and 12 females (21 and older) the chance to get to know one another with the friendly backdrop of a Beavers baseball game. Space is limited, and signups will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Tickets for the homestand against the Grizzlies, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, are available at the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (503) 224-4400. Convenient and affordable group packages are available by calling (503) 553-5555.
