Memphis Redbirds open 2005 season against Southern Division rivals
NEW FOR 2005: Fans can now take their own swings at AutoZone Park, where a new batting cage has been installed on the Boardwalk.
HOMESTAND HIGHLIGHTS: The Redbirds Opening Weekend features the first fireworks display of the season following Saturday's game, and Kids Opening Day on Sunday. Tuesday is Time Warner Tuesday, as Time Warner will again sponsor all Redbirds Tuesday night home games. Wednesday is the first of three business fan's specials, with the game starting at 1:05 p.m., and the homestand finale is Thursday's College Night.
ADOPT A SCHOOL: The Redbirds have partnered with Memphis City Schools to sponsor several Adopt-A-School nights in April, including the Monday and Tuesday games. Anyone who would like to adopt a school can purchase reduced-price tickets for students, families and staff. Money from each ticket purchased will also go to the school. GREAT GIVEAWAYS: Memphis Redbirds 2005 schedules will be distributed at the season's first two games - schedule posters on Thursday and schedule magnets on Friday - and PD Parrot dolls make an appearance on Sunday, Kids Opening Day. This season's bobblehead series of 2004 National League Champions kicks off with Tony LaRussa bobbleheads on Monday.
LOOKING AHEAD: After the Redbirds take their first road trip, traveling to Oklahoma and New Orleans for re-matches of the season's first series, Memphis will return home for eight games against Omaha and Iowa April 23rd-May 1st. The team will have a day off on April 27th.
