American Pistachio Growers, Farm Grown partner

Trade association to help support Community Fund program

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies Community Fund is proud to announce the American Pistachio Growers are participating partners of the Central California Farm Grown program. American Pistachio Growers will work with the Grizzlies Community Fund in promoting agricultural sustainability, classroom education, and health and wellness in the Central San Joaquin Valley.

"The American Pistachio Growers are important to the success of the Farm Grown program fulfilling its mission," said Grizzlies Managing General Partner and Team President Chris Cummings. "Their focus on nutrition as well as promoting the sustainability of the farming industry as a whole will benefit the many people involved with the Farm Grown program."

The Farm Grown program, launched in April of 2012, is a component of the Grizzlies Community Fund that promotes the agricultural heritage and philanthropic vitality of the Central San Joaquin Valley through the building of meaningful partnerships in support of education and healthy living. Farm Grown has integrated itself into the Grizzlies Community Fund's largest community program, Wild About Reading. Each student in the Wild About Reading program receives a free Farm Grown magazine, which contains a short story called "Parker Goes To The Farm" and many other interactive games and puzzles. More than 100,000 students were enrolled in Wild About Reading in 2013, the largest enrollment figure in the program's 10-year history.

American Pistachio Growers joins AgSafe, Almond Board of California, CoBank, Federal Land Bank Association of Kingsburg, Stamoules Produce Company, and Wawona Frozen Foods as partners with the Farm Grown program.

American Pistachio Growers is a voluntary agricultural trade association representing growers, processors and industry partners in California, Arizona and New Mexico. The Association is governed by an 18-member Board of Directors and headquartered in Fresno. Pistachio nutrition research, government affairs, product development and market development are key activities conducted by the Association.

American Pistachio Growers supports the US pistachio industry and its customers around the world, creating a link between growers, customers and consumers. Their membership funds respected nutrition and market research, effective consumer communications, leadership in government affairs and other global activities vital to the pistachio industry.
