August 18, 2008

Yakima - In an effort to continue providing top of the line entertainment and once in a lifetime experiences, the Yakima Bears have pulled off another celebrity appearance- this time at the last minute. Former Mariner and two time all-star, Jeff Cirillo, will appear at the Bears home game Monday, August 25th. Cirillo will throw out the first pitch and be available for fans to meet and sign autographs during the first hour of the game. The pre-game ceremony is scheduled for 6:50 pm with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05.

Jeff Cirillo most recently played for the Arizona Diamondbacks last season helping them make the National League Championship Series. He was drafted in the 11th round of the 1991 draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. Making his Major League debut in 1994, Jeff played 14 seasons in the big leagues. He was an All-star twice (1997 Brewers, 2000 Rockies), and holds a career .296 batting average. In 2002 playing 3rd base for the Mariners, Jeff hit .249 with a .973 fielding percentage. Cirillo has played for 6 different Major League teams (Brewers, Rockies, Mariners, Padres, Twins, and Dbacks). Jeff Cirillo, now retired and living in the Seattle area, has always been known as a good teammate, hard worker, and solid defensive player.

"It is always special to provide a night where fans can personally meet former big league players," added Bears general manager, K.L. Wombacher. "We had one player back out in May so we have been scrambling all summer trying to find someone for an appearance. We are very grateful to Jeff Cirillo for agreeing to attend at the last minute. I am very confident our fans will appreciate the opportunity to meet him."

Tickets are now on sale for Monday August 25th, Jeff Cirillo Night. Fans can purchase them at the Bears downtown office, online at yakimabears.com or any Tickets West outlet.
