Medchill Blast Paces 5-3 Thunder Win

April 15, 2013

TRENTON, NJ - The bullpen continues to anchor the Thunder pitching staff as Aaron Dott, Branden Pinder and Tommy Kahnle combined for five innings of shutout ball in Trenton's 5-3 win Monday night.

Neil Mechill blasted a second-inning two-run HR to right field on a high fastball from Akron Aeros' starter Danny Salazar. The Thunder were trailing 2-0 when Medchill connected for his third homer of the season. That tied the game 2-2.

In the bottom of the 4th the Thunder and Aeros were still tied- this time 3-3- and Kyle Roller began the inning with a double. Roller, who has reached base safely in all ten games he has played this season, scored one batter later when 3B Rob Segedin stroked a missile to centerfield for a base hit.

The Thunder are currently riding a five-game winning streak and have won all five home games they have played in 2013. This streak comes on the heels of a six-game road trip at Portland and New Hampshire to begin the season which left the Thunder at 3-3.

Trenton looks to continue their seven-game homestand at ARM & HAMMER Park with a sixth consecutive win Tuesday with Game 2 of a three-game series against the defending 2012 Eastern League Champion Akron Aeros.
