Moore to sing anthem in Mississippi

August 22, 2008
The Mississippi Braves are proud to announce that recording artist Dorothy Moore will perform the National Anthem at Trustmark Park on Friday, August 29th.

Ms. Moore is best known for her number one single from 1976, "Misty Blue".

Ms. Moore has played New York's Madison Square Garden and London's Palladium and now she will bring her music home to Mississippi at Trustmark Park.

She was honored with a sidewalk marker of her likeness in 2001 at the Alamo Theater on Farish Street in Jackson, MS. She began her professional career on Farish Street and her local honors include the Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts in 1996, Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame in 2001 and numerous Jackson Music Awards.

Moore serves on the board of the Blues Foundation and BB King Museum Advisory Board. She tours, produces and records from Jackson.

After getting her start in the 1960s, Moore had ballads that topped the charts such as "Misty Blue", "Funny How Time Slips Away", "I Believe You", "For Old Time Sake" and "With Pen in Hand". She created her own record label, Farish Street Records of Mississippi, in honor of the legendary street and neighborhood where she was raised.
