Catfish Leave Golden Park with Victory
The Catfish began the scoring when Mike McCormick hit a moon shot out to left field for a 2-run homer, scoring Stephen Vogt . The Catfish added another in the 3rd when Chase Fontaine's groundout to second base scored Vogt.
Savannah got on the board in the top of the 4th when Nick Giarraputo singled home Michael Parker and Carlos Guzman . Columbus answered those 2 runs quickly however, scoring 2 in the bottom of the 4th when Reid Fronk's sacrifice fly to left field scored Cody Cipriano , who was playing his 1st game since returning from the disabled list. Greg Sexton then singled home Shawn O'Malley to give the Catfish a 5-2 lead. The Catfish would score in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th innings as well, with the highlights being Fontaine and Fronk solo home runs to right field. The Catfish would win by the final score of 9-4 after scoring in every inning except the bottom of the 1st.
The Catfish were led offensively by Stephen Vogt (3-5 with 2 runs and an RBI), Reid Fronk (2-3 with 2 runs, a home run and 2 RBI's), Henry Wrigley (2-5 with a run) and Mike McCormick (2-4 with a home run and 3 RBI's). The Sand Gnats were led by Richard Pena (2-5), Carlos Guzman (3-5 with 2 runs scored), Ralph Henriquez (2-5 with 2 RBI's) and Nick Giarraputo (2-4 with 2 RBI's). Eric Beaulac took his 2nd loss of the season after allowing 5 earned runs in 4 innings of work.
The Catfish now take to the road to face Rome for a 3-game set to conclude their 2008 season.
