Tuesday's September callups roundup

September 2, 2008
It's the time of year when Minor Leaguers get to "The Show" with an opportunity to make a mark on teams with an eye for the future. Here are Tuesday's Major League callups:

Angels
Three familiar faces were back with the Angels' troupe on Tuesday, renewing acquaintances and preparing to deliver whatever manager Mike Scioscia has in mind for them. More

Athletics
Allowed to add as many as 15 players to their roster for September, the A's added two -- left-handers Josh Outman and Dan Meyer. More

Blue Jays
Shaun Marcum learned that nothing is guaranteed after a stunning demotion to Triple-A Syracuse less than two weeks ago. More

Braves
The second day after active rosters were permitted to expand, Atlanta added five new faces -- left-hander Jeff Ridgway, infielder Brent Lillibridge, catcher Corky Miller, and right-handers Jorge Julio and James Parr. More

Dodgers
As the club heads into the real stretch drive, it considers the Sept. 1 date for rosters to expand virtually irrelevant. The Dodgers plan to keep on expanding that roster, unknown as some actual dates might be. More

Giants
Left-handed pitchers Pat Misch and Geno Espineli, along with infielder John Bowker and outfielder Nate Schierholtz, received applause from their new teammates shortly after arriving from Sacramento. More

Indians
Six players were added to the Tribe's active roster from Triple-A Buffalo as part of September callups. Second baseman Josh Barfield made his long-awaited return from the disabled list and first baseman Mike Aubrey, right-handers Brian Slocum, Tom Mastny and John Meloan and left-hander Rich Rundles all joined the club. More

Mariners
It took Matt Tuiasosopo almost two years to get football out of his system, but there's no doubt in his mind now that he made the right choice when he decided to pursue a career in baseball. More

Marlins
To many who followed Dallas McPherson's eye-raising numbers in the Pacific Coast League, the question has been why did it take so long to bring him up? More

Mets
Hurricane Gustav brought a premature end to the season of the Mets' Triple-A New Orleans Zephyrs affiliate and afforded new perspective to at least one of its members, Carlos Muniz. More

Nationals
The Nationals recalled pitchers Tyler Clippard, Mike O'Connor and Ryan Wagner from Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday, while also recalling outfielder Justin Maxwell from Double-A Harrisburg. More

Orioles
The Orioles added to their pile of September callups Tuesday, when they welcomed relievers Kam Mickolio and Bob McCrory in addition to starting pitcher Radhames Liz. More

Padres
As expected, catcher Luke Carlin and outfielder Chip Ambres were in uniform at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, the latest additions from Triple-A Portland to be added to the roster. More

Pirates
The Pirates will have 10 additional players, including outfielder Steve Pearce, joining the club for the opening game of a three-game set Tuesday against the Reds. More

Rays
Two new jerseys hung in the Rays' clubhouse prior to Tuesday night's game against the Yankees, as the first wave of callups -- catcher John Jaso and outfielder Fernando Perez -- arrived earlier in the afternoon. More

Reds
In an expected move following Monday's expansion of rosters to 40 players, the Reds recalled pitcher Ramon Ramirez, who had been optioned to Class A Advanced Sarasota in a "paper move." More

Rockies
The Rockies tried their best to keep the anticipated arrival of speedy, switch-hitting center fielder Dexter Fowler a quiet one. More

Royals
Kila Ka'aihue was all set to wrap up his season on Monday with Omaha in the Triple-A finale at Des Moines. But then he got word he was headed to Kansas City instead. More

Twins
With Minnesota playing its first game since the Major League rosters expanded, the Twins had six of their seven callups in uniform for the club's series opener against the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. More

White Sox
Right-handers Mike MacDougal and Ehren Wasserman were called up from Triple-A Charlotte. Speedy outfielder Jerry Owens was also recalled, and Chicago purchased the contract of catcher Paul Phillips. More
