Syracuse Chiefs help strike out the area's pet overpopulation problem
On Tuesday, September 9 at 2pm in Alliance Bank Stadium, Dr Fitzpatrick will present a $3,000 check to Spay And Neuter Syracuse (SANS).
Dr Fitzpatrick approached the Syracuse Chiefs with an idea to raise money during this season's home games by donating $20 for every strikeout of an opposing batter recorded by a Chiefs relief pitcher.
"I wanted to find a way to raise awareness of the pet overpopulation problem and contribute towards the solution which is spay and neutering. The Syracuse Chiefs had an outstanding season with the highest season attendance in six years. With such support from the Syracuse Chiefs and the fans it was the perfect venue to bring two very different organizations together to help local animals, to help our community." says Dr. Fitzpatrick.
Monies raised will go directly to Spay and Neuter Syracuse (SANS), a low cost spay and neuter clinic located in Syracuse and the only one of its kind in the county. The clinic has spayed and neutered over 4,000 animals since its inception November 2005.
SANS is a volunteer based 501(c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the pet overpopulation problem by spaying and neutering unowned cats and dogs and animals belonging to persons of low income.
