ValleyCats Shatter Single Season Attendance Record

Attendance record broken for the fifth consecutive season
September 5, 2008
TROY, N.Y. - The Tri-City ValleyCats set a new single-season attendance record Friday evening with a crowd of 4,238. The ValleyCats have now drawn 140,631 fans to Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in 2008. Through 35 games, the ValleyCats have averaged of 4,018 people per game, also an organizational all-time high. This season marks the fifth consecutive season the ValleyCats have broken the organization's single season attendance record.

This new record has consisted of nine sellout crowds highlighted by the 6,630 fans that packed "The Joe" the Fourth of July. Friday evening's mark is also the nineteenth game this season in which the ValleyCats have drawn more than 4,000 fans. The attendance figure does not include the sell-out crowd of 6,149 who filled the ballpark for the New York-Penn League All-Star Game on August 19.

"Setting an all-time attendance record for the fifth consecutive season exemplifies the preparation of the entire ValleyCats front office staff," said ValleyCats Vice President and General Manager Rick Murphy. "It is exciting to watch the growth of our organization as we continue to take it to the next level with fun-filled affordable family entertainment night in and night out."

The ValleyCats will look to add to the newly set record Saturday evening when they take on the Boston Red Sox affiliate Lowell Spinners in the season finale. Gates open at 6:00 pm with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 pm.
