September 8, 2008
ST. LOUIS, MO - Nick Additon, who finished the season with the Palm Beach Cardinals, was named St. Louis Cardinals minor league Pitcher-of-the-Month for August due to his performance split between time at Quad Cities and Palm Beach.

The award was Additon's second of the year, taking the honors in June for Quad Cities. The Cardinals left-hander was 3-1, with a 1.69 ERA in five starts encompassing 32 innings pitched in August. He struck out 27 batters and held opponents to a .185 batting average.

Following a promotion to Palm Beach on August 12th, Additon was 2-0 with an 0.50 ERA in three starts including one of only six franchise complete game shutouts when the left-hander blanked St. Lucie on August 21st, starting a streak of 13 consecutive scoreless innings. Additon started Game Two of the Florida State League playoffs against Daytona, but received a no decision.

During the 2008 season, Additon posted some of the best numbers in the Cardinals organization compiling an 11-5 record with a 2.23 ERA in 137 innings with 121 strikeouts.
