Wheeler sharp, Sano homers in 10-4 victory over Charlotte

The Miracle improved to 17-4 with 10-run, 13-hit performance

FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 26, 2013) - The Fort Myers Miracle churned out 13 hits en route to a 10-4 victory over the Charlotte Stone Crabs in front of 5,132 at Hammond Stadium on Friday night.

The Miracle scored six runs in the first three innings off Charlotte starter Parker Markel. In the second, Kennys Vargas hit a two-out triple and trotted home on a RBI single through the right side from Drew Leachman.

In the third inning, the Miracle plated five starting with a run-scoring double from Levi Michael. Eddie Rosario followed with an RBI single, bringing up Miguel Sano with two on and no outs.

Sano blasted a breaking ball from Markel over the left center field wall for a three-run homer that extended the Miracle lead to 6-0. Sano's homer was his league leading ninth of the season.

Charlotte touched up Miracle starter Jason Wheeler for three runs, two coming off a swing from Alejandro Segovia in the fourth inning. Segovia's home run pulled the Stone Crabs to 6-2, but the Miracle answered in the fifth. Fort Myers got an RBI single in the fifth from Vargas.

Andy Leer homered to lead off the sixth inning and Rosario plated a run on a triple. The Miracle ended the night with five extra-base hits.

Wheeler (2-0) went 6.2 innings and recorded 12 outs on ground balls. Allowing three runs on four hits, Wheeler also walked one and struck out two.

Markel (0-3) lasted 4.2 innings and gave up seven runs on seven hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

The Miracle (17-4) go for the sweep of the Stone Crabs (8-13) on Saturday at Hammond Stadium.
