September 22, 2008
SPOKANE, Wash. -- The annual Sports Career Seminar and Job Fair will be held in Spokane on Saturday, Nov. 1. The Sports Career Seminar and Job Fair, which has been held annually since 2001, is the only event of its kind in the Northwest.

Professional sports teams from around the Northwest will be meeting, interviewing, and hiring job candidates at the Sports Career Seminar and Job Fair. In addition, there will be panel discussions and guest speakers who will offer insights into sports management as a career.

The Sports Career Seminar and Job Fair is ideal for college seniors, recent graduates or anyone else who is interested in starting a career in sports management. Job seekers are expected from throughout the West.

"The hardest thing about getting started in the sports business is just getting your foot in the door," said Bobby Brett, owner of five professional sports teams and president of Brett Sports & Entertainment. "This Seminar and Job Fair is geared to help people get introduced to our industry and to the top teams in the region."

Jobs that will be posted at the Sports Career Seminar and Job Fair include positions in marketing, sales, promotions, public relations and a variety of internships.

"We have hired some great staff members and interns from the Career Fair," said Brent Miles, president of the Tri-City Dust Devils and High Desert Mavericks. "This Career Fair is the centerpiece of our staff hiring process."

The cost for job seekers to attend the Sports Career Seminar and Job Fair is $49. This fee includes access to all activities during the all-day event, lunch and a ticket to the Spokane Chiefs Hockey game that night. The event will be held at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.
