RHP Rosario recalled by San Francisco
Right-handed pitcher Sandy Rosario has been recalled by the San Francisco Giants, the Fresno Grizzlies' parent club announced today. In a corresponding move, left-handed pitcher Carlos Teller has been transferred from Extended Spring Training to the Grizzlies' roster.
Rosario, 27, is 0-1 with a 3.29 ERA and one save with the Grizzlies this season. He has 17 strikeouts and six walks over the course of 13 2/3 innings pitched. The Dominican Republic native has allowed just one earned run in his last seven appearances for Fresno.
Rosario was acquired by the Giants off waivers from the Chicago Cubs in December of 2012. He was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Florida Marlins in 2004 and has logged 10 Major League appearances for the Marlins since 2010.
Teller, 26, has appeared in three games with the Class A Advanced San Jose Giants this season. He was 0-1 with a 21.00 ERA (7er, 3.0ip) in the three games with San Jose. Teller did not appear in his first game in 2013 until April 17 against Stockton.
Prior to this season, Teller has not pitched in affiliated baseball since 2008 when he appeared in 13 games with the Rookie level Pirates. In 43 career games (28 starts), the Nicaragua native is 9-2 with a 3.58 ERA and 158 strikeouts against 96 walks. He was injured for all of the 2007 season.
Teller was signed by the Giants as a minor league free agent on November 28, 2012.
