Ernie Whitt latest to join 2013 Superstar Series
(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - The Vancouver Canadians are proud to announce that former Toronto Blue Jays catcher Ernie Whitt will be making an appearance at Scotiabank Field on Wednesday, August 14th at 7:05pm as part of the 6th annual Superstar Series presented by the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Blake's
Whitt played 12 of his 15 Major League Baseball seasons with Toronto being named an all-star in 1985 when he helped the Blue Jays to their first ever American League East pennant.
Known for his consistency behind the plate, Whitt hit more than 15 home run in six consecutive seasons (1983-88) and remains one of the best defensive catchers in Blue Jays history finishing his 12 years in Toronto with a .992 fielding percentage.
Whitt on coming to Vancouver:

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Whitt is now a Canadian citizen and has been at the helm of Canada's National Baseball Program for nearly a decade leading our country at the Olympic Games (2004), World Baseball Classic (2006, 2009 and 2013) and Pan AM Games where he led Canada to a Gold Medal.
