Loons to Institute Bag Search Practice
MIDLAND, Mich. - The Great Lakes Loons have announced a change of practice in checking bags at entry gates to Dow Diamond. Beginning on Wednesday, May 1, all bags entering Dow Diamond will be searched, including purses, diaper bags, backpacks and carrying bags for camp chairs.
"We are committed to the safety of everyone that steps inside Dow Diamond," said Loons President and General Manager Paul Barbeau. "We are making this change to keep Great Lakes Loons baseball a safe, enjoyable event for all of our guests."
There will be separate entry lanes for guests with bags.
Per Midwest League rules, food and beverage, including bottled water, is not permitted to enter Dow Diamond. Please note that the Loons have multiple drinking fountains and offer free water at concessions stands. Fans may bring empty, plastic water bottles and fill them at the new bottle fillings station located on the first base side of the main concourse.
Outside food for infants and other special dietary needs is permitted.
A letter from Paul Barbeau to Loons fans is attached to this release.
