Win Streak Snapped, Suns Over Braves 5-4

Second Game of Doubleheader Postponed
May 5, 2013

The Rome Braves were defeated by Hagerstown 5-4 Sunday afternoon before a crowd of 2,702 fans. Rome's win streak comes to a halt at eight games.

Hagerstown went on top early thanks to a three run homer off the bat of Brandon Miller in the first inning. Rome's Josh Elander (4) answered in the bottom of the first with a solo homer making the score 3-1. The Braves tied it up in the third inning when Felix Marte tripled and later scored on a Ronald Luna single. Luna scored the tying run off of a double by Casey Kalenkosky for a score of 3-3.

The Suns quickly took the lead again in the top of the fourth with a RBI single off the bat of Wes Schill and a run scoring ground out from Matt Foat for the 5-3 score. Elander's (5) second home run of the game came in the fifth inning to make it a 5-4 game but that is as close as Rome would get.

Hagerstown's Kylin Turnbull (2-0) received his second win of the season while Rome's Williams Perez's (3-2) record went to 3-2.
