Tejada Tabbed Defensive Player of the Month

Fort Wayne's First Baseman Wins San Diego Farm System Award

Fort Wayne, IN - TinCaps first baseman Luis Tejada has been named the San Diego Padres Minor League Defensive Player of the Month for April.

In 21 starts at first last month, Tejada had a .991 fielding percentage. The Constanza, Dominican Republic, product committed only two errors in 214 chances, as he recorded 191 putouts and 21 assists to lead the Midwest League at his position. Tejada was also involved in 19 double plays, which was also a league-high for the month.

Tejada is in his first season with Fort Wayne. After signing with San Diego in January of 2010, Tejada previously played for the Padres' clubs in the Dominican Summer League and Arizona League. 

The other San Diego prospect winners for April included 2012 TinCap, and current Lake Elsinore Storm (Advanced-A), Lee Orr, as Hitter of the Month, 2011 TinCap Cory Spangenberg, also with the Storm, as Baserunner of the Month. Double-A San Antonio's Burch Smith won Pitcher of the Month.
