New, improved MiLB.com shop launches
With nearly 200 teams in a dozen-plus leagues, the Minors are full of fun logos, from Bisons to Bats, Sidewinders to Sky Sox, from Timber Rattlers to Twins and Crawdads to Chukars.
The list goes on and on, and new logos are being created each year (like the Connecticut Defenders, Greenville Drive and State College Spikes, starting play in 2006).
All those logos are prominently on display in the brand-new MiLB.com shop, the official online merchandiser of Minor League Baseball, which launches Tuesday, March 14.
The shop includes thousands of new items, including jerseys, caps, apparel, collectibles and accessories for your home or office.
Check out the new shop and get ready for the 2006 season. There are products for the entire family, no matter who you're favorite team is.
For example, if you follow the Clinton LumberKings of the Midwest League, you can shop online and easily find jerseys for your kids, hooded sweatshirts for your spouse, a LumberKings leather CD case for your den, even a dog tag for your favorite pooch.
The Minor Leagues have a rich heritage, and it's no surprise the MiLB shop includes some vintage items that celebrate the game's tradition, such as jerseys and caps from Seattle-based Ebbets Field Flannels.
Some of these items are a virtual history lesson: a 1965 home jersey of the Toledo Mud Hens, a 1933 cap from the New Orleans Pelicans and a 1965 cap of the old Alaska Goldpanners.
On the flip side are today's cutting-edge logos, which can be found from coast to coast, including the Las Vegas 51s and their extraterrestrial-inspired logo, the Lake Elsinore Storm and their optical-influenced lids or even the Montgomery Biscuits, whose buttery ballcaps would make anyone hungry for baseball.
And it's a good thing, with Opening Day right around the corner.
