Senators Suffer Rain-Shortened Defeat

May 10, 2013

Binghamton, NY - A day after throwing the fourth no-hitter in team history, the Harrisburg Senators fell to the Binghamton Mets 8-4 in a rain shortened game (six and two-thirds innings).

Anthony Rendon continued his torrid pace with a first-inning RBI double to put the Senators in front. Binghamton, however, put up a three spot in the bottom of the first to answer right back. The first four hitters reached against Sens starter Caleb Clay. Daniel Muno hit a two-run homer.

The B-Mets exploded for another huge inning in the second, scoring five runs to take control of the game and knock out Clay after just one and two-thirds. He gave way to Matt Swynenberg, who surrendered a two-run home run to Allan Dyktra, the first hitter he faced. Swynenberg settled down from there, tough, tossing four innings and only allowing the one run.

Harrisburg got back into the game with a three-run fourth. Ricky Hague drove in a run with his third double in two games, and Swynenberg picked up a double of his own to bring home a pair.

Erik Goeddel earned the win and struck out six in his five innings of work. Clay suffered his second consecutive loss. Rendon went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.

On Saturday afternoon, the Senators continue their four-game series on the road against the Binghamton Mets. Game time is 1:05 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it's available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 12:50 p.m.
