Hot Rods reveal identity, logos

October 28, 2008
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Bowling Green Pro Baseball officially unveiled the new identity of the Class A affiliate of the American League champion Tampa Bay Rays when the Bowling Green Hot Rods were introduced during a live event Monday night at Circus Square Park in downtown Bowling Green.

The team also announced a brand new website, www.bghotrods.com, where fans can purchase tickets and merchandise for the new South Atlantic League franchise.

"This is an historic day for Bowling Green professional baseball as we come together to celebrate the beginning of the Bowling Green Hot Rods," said Hot Rods general manager/CEO Brad Taylor. "We are very excited to develop the Hot Rods brand, which connects the spirit and heritage of this region's automotive industry with a creative name and logo associated with the fun of minor league baseball.

"We also want to take this time to thank the community for being so supportive and positive in leading up to this day, and we look forward to seeing the Hot Rods come to life at our brand new stadium on Opening Night, April 17, 2009."

Kristine Bosinger of Bowling Green was selected at random from among fans who voted for the name "Hot Rods" during a month-long, name-the-team contest that featured more than 4,000 fans suggesting over 1,000 different team names. Kristine won two free season tickets for the inaugural 2009 season and $500 worth of new Hot Rods merchandise.

Tailpipe Silver, Racing Yellow, Fire Red and Tire Black make up the club's official colors. A hot rod burning rubber is the centerpiece of the identity, surrounded by a chevron in the club's primary mark. Silver tailpipes are bent into the letters "BG" to make up the cap designation.

The Hot Rods look is the work of Plan B Branding, a San Diego-grown creative ideas company specializing in storytelling and branding ideas. Partners Casey White and Jason Klein dreamed up fresh looks for the World Series, Major League Baseball clubs and premier Minor League Baseball clubs.

"Casey and Jason at Plan B Branding worked closely with us in developing this cutting-edge Hot Rods brand," said Taylor. "We value their partnership and creativity and think our fans will really be excited about sporting Hot Rods merchandise all over this region."

"Fans will love seeing the automotive-themed fan experience come to life this spring," said Klein.

Fans can purchase brand new official Hot Rods merchandise and season tickets at the team's Administrative Offices at 814 State St. in Bowling Green between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays or online at www.bghotrods.com. For more information, call (270) 901-2121.

Opening Night for the Bowling Green Hot Rods is scheduled for Friday, April 17, 2009, against the Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, at a brand new downtown ballpark currently under construction.
