2013 PROMOTIONAL CALENDAR JAM-PACKED WITH FUN

 

Highlights include 20 fireworks nights, celebrities, giveaway items, and nightly promotions

The Akron Aeros announced its promotional calendar for the 2013 season. The schedule features promotions during all 71 home games at Canal Park and includes premium fan giveaways, weekly theme nights, celebrity appearances, and the always-popular fireworks shows every Friday all season and every Saturday beginning in June. The 2013 Opening Day is Thursday, April 4, at 6:35 p.m. at Canal Park.

The calendar is packed with exciting games filled with various promotions. There is a bobblehead giveaway every Saturday from April to June and a premium giveaway every Saturday to follow.
One such special night is July 13 when Corbin Bernsen will be on hand for a night that will feature a 1980's style Cleveland Indians jersey auction, a Roger Dorn snow globe giveaway, and post-game fireworks. In addition, with the largest HD video board in Double-A baseball lighting up Canal Park in 2013, the Aeros will show a post-game movie for the first time on June 7, with a night all about the great outdoors and a special fireworks display.

"We are excited to be able to offer fans from all over Northeast Ohio the very best in affordable family fun and entertainment all season at Canal Park. The staff, under the leadership of Director of Promotions Christina Shisler, has worked hard all offseason to create a schedule that will keep fans entertained during all of our 71 home games in 2013," said Aeros General Manager Jim Pfander.

In addition to expanding the promotional calendar to all home games, the schedule will have 20 fireworks nights, giveaways every Saturday to the first 1,000 fans, and even offer $2 hot dogs at every home game this year. Opening Night, April 4, will feature $1 Thirsty Thursday specials on beer and soda, fireworks, and magnet schedule giveaway, sponsored by Albert Guarnieri & Co.

Throughout the season, fans will have chances to win amazing prizes and cash through on-field contests such as the Remote Dig on April 5, where one lucky fan will leave with an HD television, the "Look, my hot dog is GREEN!!" $1,000 giveaway promotion on April 10 and the $1,000 Cash Dash on August 24, which also includes a Stanley Steemer metal lunch box giveaway.

They also will have a chance to create the newest addition to the Aeros famous "Extreme Foods" menu during the April 23's "Ballpark Faceoff-a salute to the internet sensation Epic Meal Time." Fans will have a chance to sample the best online-submitted entries to determine the winner. The "Extreme Foods" menu includes the "Nice 2 Meat U" burger (a two lb. hamburger stuffed with a half-pound hot dog and a quarter-pound of bacon, cheese and onions), the "3 Dog Night" (a hot dog stuffed in a bratwurst wrapped in kielbasa, topped with sauerkraut and Stadium Mustard, served on a hoagie roll), and "The Screamer" (a one-pound chocolate brownie with 21 scoops of hand-dipped ice cream, four bananas, covered with hot fudge sauce, whipped cream, and sprinkles, served in a full-size souvenir Aeros replica batting helmet).

"I am extremely excited about the promotional schedule we created for the upcoming 2013 season! We focused on having something for everyone. No matter their area of interest, they will find a promotion to make them want to come to a ballgame at Canal Park!" said Shisler.

There are six reoccurring theme nights throughout the 2013 season. Each Sunday is "Family FUNday," presented by WKNR ESPN Cleveland, where kids can play catch on the field before the game and run the bases following the game. Mondays are the "Charity Begins at Home" nights, presented by 91.3 The Summit, which are for fundraising and awareness opportunities. "Two for Tuesdays," presented by WQMX, feature a buy-one-get-one reserved seat ticket deal for $9 available, only at the Canal Park box office. "Thirsty Thursdays," presented by WZIP, will feature $1 draft beer and soft drinks specials, every Friday is presented by The Akron Beacon Journal, and will have a fireworks show, and Saturdays are "Celebrity Saturdays," presented by WONE/WAKR, which will have mystery public address announcers, celebrity appearances, premium giveaways, and fireworks starting in June.

"We are bringing back fan favorite acts, including the ZOOperstars!, Sauce Boss, and Midget Wrestling, while also tying in some local promotional theme nights such as The University of Akron Night with a special bobblehead and appearance by Jim Tressel. Kids will also have a lot to cheer about with Superhero Night, our Princess Tea Party and the much-anticipated Kids Candy Drop!" said Shisler.
