Sano and Morales lead Miracle over Stone Crabs, 9-2.

May 18, 2013

PORT CHARLOTTE-The Ft. Myers Miracle continue to roll over the Stone Crabs, and the rest of the league for that matter, as the Miracle tallied nine runs on 11 hits, defeating the Stone Crabs for the eighth time this season, 9-2.

Charlotte starter Mike Montgomery, making his second rehab appearance of the season, was roughed up for seven runs (six earned), over just 4.2 innings. Facing Ft. Myers is a tall task for any pitcher, as the Miracle lead the Florida State League in almost every statistical offensive category.

Leading that Ft. Myers offense are Miguel Sano and Angel Morales, who finished the night with only three hits in 10 at-bats, but drove home four of the nine Miracle runs. Sano, much like his team, leads the Florida State League in almost every statstical offensive category, but it has been Morales who has been the most deadly against the Stone Crabs. Playing in each of the eight games against the Stone Crabs on the season, Morales is 13-for-28 (.464) with five doubles and 11 RBIs.

Ryan Brett was the only Stone Crab with multiple hits, finishing 2-for-4 on the evening, and is hitting .429 since his call up from Bowling Green.

The Stone Crabs (16-25) finish the series against Ft. Myers on Sunday, sending LHP Felipe Rivero (2-3) to the hill, while Ft. Myers counters with RHP Matt Summers (1-3).

Sunday is "Bark in the Park" at Charlotte Sports Park where fans can bring their dog for a night of fun! There will be a pre-game parade, costume contest, and much more! Tickets start at $7, and your dogs gets in free!
