Derek Bryant, manager de Vaqueros Laguna
El licenciado Carlos Gómez del Campo Presidente Ejecutivo de la escuadra naranja se mostró complacido con la nueva adquisición. "Consideramos que Derek es la persona indicada para dirigir deportivamente este proyecto, ya que su calidad lo avala como un gran manejador", indicó del Campo.
Agregó: "la versión de Vaqueros 2009 tendrá un equipo con una combinación interesante de juventud y experiencia, es por ello que la decisión de contratar a Bryant nos representa una buena opción para ser un equipo ganador".
Vaqueros Laguna será el cuarto equipo dirigirá Derek Bryant en Liga Mexicana, ya que anteriormente manejó a Sultanes de Monterrey, Acereros de Monclova y su último club fue Saraperos de Saltillo.
Es sin duda Derek Bryant uno de los managers más exitosos en los últimos años en nuestro país, ya que ha logrado 11 temporadas ganadoras, obteniendo los títulos de 1995 y 1996 con los Sultanes de Monterrey, además de conseguir el cetro de la zona norte en las temporadas 2004 y 2006 con los Saraperos de Saltillo.
Bryant, un triunfador en el beisbol, ya que además los logros obtenidos como manejador, su trayectoria de jugador lo ubican como uno de los mejores extranjeros que han participado en la pelota mexicana.
Originalmente fue seleccionado por los Gigantes de San Francisco en el año de 1969, aunque no fue hasta 1979 cuando debutó en las Grandes Ligas vistiendo la camisola de los Atléticos de Oakland. En nuestro país Bryant ostenta el récord compartido de 4 vuelacercas conectados en un juego de nueve entradas contra Aguascalientes, el 14 de mayo de 1985 jugando para los Astros de Tampico.
En 1985 fue campeón de hits dobles con 38, además de obtener el cetro de cuadrangulares el verano de 1984, con los mismos Astros.
FERMIN REGRESA CON SULTANES
MONTERREY, N.L (Prensa/Sultanes de Monterrey) 15 de noviembre.- La directiva del Club de Beisbol Sultanes de Monterrey reitera, como ya se lo hizo saber personalmente al propio Félix Fermín al concluir la temporada 2008, que están contando con el dominicano para hacerse cargo del equipo regio, para la próxima temporada del 2009, en que el Club festejará su 70 aniversario.
Aclaración necesaria, por lo que ha trascendido en algunos medios en torno al interés por los servicios de Paquín Estrada para la próxima campaña. La trayectoria de Félix Fermín como el mejor manager de esta década, por sus logros con Águilas Cibaeñas y Sultanes de Monterrey, no está en tela de duda.
Por respeto a Félix Fermín y evitar malos entendidos, ya que él tiene en mente la siguiente edición de Sultanes, es que compartimos esta nota aclaratoria para borrar toda especulación, ya que al Club Sultanes nadie le ha cuestionado al respecto de los rumores que han aparecido.
Por ello se reitera, Félix Fermín está en los planes de Sultanes y de él mismo, para conducir los destinos de los regios, en la próxima temporada.
