Chiefs unveil new theme, marks, and alternate jersey for '09

November 19, 2008
Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Chiefs have unveiled a new alternate jersey and hat that will be worn by the team for select home games during the 2009 season. The new jersey and hat are part of a new "On Track to Washington" theme that will be prevalent in the team's marketing for the upcoming season.

The new red jersey is patterned after the alternate jersey worn by the Chiefs' new Major League affiliate, the Washington Nationals. The Chiefs' new jersey will have blue trim white block numbers outlined in blue on both the front and back. The players' names will appear in white letters on the back and the jersey also features the Chiefs' locomotive logo on the left chest.

The Chiefs' new red alternate hat features a white interlocking "SC" outlined in blue and is also patterned after the Nationals' alternate hat which features a white interlocking "DC".

The Chiefs' new theme, jersey, and hat were developed by Plan B Branding, a San Diego-based creative ideas company specializing in storytelling and branding ideas. Partners Jason Klein and Casey White dreamed up fresh looks for the Cincinnati Reds, the World Series and prestigious Minor League Baseball clubs. Many of these clubs broke franchise merchandising records with Plan B. Plan B was also hired by the Chiefs prior to the 2007 season to develop the team's current train identity and marks.

"It was very important for us to develop a new theme and set of marks to celebrate the beginning of the Washington Nationals era in Syracuse," said Chiefs General Manager John Simone. "We were thrilled to once again work with Plan B Branding, a company that has had so much success throughout the world of baseball."

The "OnTrack" logos will be used by the Chiefs in many of the team's publications, advertising, and merchandise. The "On Track" word mark will appear as a patch on the left sleeve of the team's primary home and road jerseys, replacing the International League 125th Anniversary patch.
