Logan proves Boone to ChiSox 'pen

Reliever trying to make jump from Class A Advanced to bigs
March 15, 2006
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Minor Leaguer Boone Logan is making his case for the open left-handed specialist spot in the Chicago White Sox bullpen.

In his third "official" outing of the spring on Wednesday, Logan threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings and allowed one hit, as he tries to prove that he can make the jump from Class A Advanced to the Major Leagues.

In Logan's two previous outings, he's totaled three scoreless innings. In a "B" game on March 5, the rookie struck out three, including Rob Mackowiak and Jim Thome.

"I know I can handle it. That's no question," Logan said of pitching in the Majors. "The way you're seeing me pitch right now, that's what you're going to be seeing most of the time. I know I can handle the role."

And manager Ozzie Guillen agrees.

He said Logan has a good shot at going to Chicago when the Sox break camp.

"I like what I see. He throws strikes," Guillen said. "He did a tremendous job. Right now he's going to be the talk of the next couple of days."
