John Lannan Bobblehead Night

The 24-year-old Lannan was recently named to the prestigious Topps Rookie All-Star team, one of 10 players to receive the honor. The Long Beach, N.Y., native had a solid rookie campaign with the Washington Nationals going 9-15 with a 3.91 ERA in 31 starts. The Siena College product tied for eighth in the National League and led all rookies in quality starts with 21. He struck out 112 batters in 182 innings and limited opponents to a .252 batting average against.

A former 11th-round pick of the Washington Nationals in the 2005 draft, Lannan had a breakout 2007 season that began in Advanced-A Potomac. While with the P-Nats, Lannan went 6-0 in eight starts and posted a 2.13 ERA while holding opponents to a .173 batting average against. He was promoted to Double-A Harrisburg in May and after brief stays with the Senators and Triple-A Columbus, Lannan made his Major League debut on July 26 against the Philadelphia Phillies. At the conclusion of the season, Lannan was honored by the organization by being named its 2007 Minor League Pitcher of the Year.
