Glenn, Fisher Cats Split Doubleheader

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Brad Glenn drove in two runs and Chorye Spoone provided excellent relief to help the Fisher Cats (24-26) earn a split of their suspended-game doubleheader with the New Britain Rock Cats (23-27) on Saturday night. New Hampshire won the suspended game, which began on Friday night, 4-2. The Rock Cats rallied to take the nightcap by a final of 4-1.

The suspended game began with the Fisher Cats leading 3-2, a lead compiled through three and a half innings on Friday night. Clint Robinson, Brad Glenn, and Ryan Schimpf all drove in runs before the rains came on Friday night, suspending play in the bottom of the fourth.

When the game picked up on Saturday, Chorye Spoone (W; 2-2) and Joel Carreno (Save, 6) kept the Rock Cats off the board for the final five innings. Glenn drove home a second run in the seventh to push the margin to 4-2.

Spoone earned with win in the opening game, tossing three scoreless innings in relief of starter Marcus Stroman. Stroman allowed both New Britain runs before the rains came on Friday night.

Glenn was 1-3 with a pair of runs batted in to pace the offense. He has now driven in 20 runs in 22 games in May.

In game two, New Britan's Danny Santana was the main cause of trouble for Fisher Cats starter Marcus Walden (L; 3-5). He tripled and scored in the first to put New Britain on top. Leading off the third, he laced a double to right-center, scoring a few batters later to make it 2-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Fisher Cats sliced into the lead with an RBI double courtesy of Sean Ochinko, but Santana answered with another hit and another run in the fifth to push the lead back to two runs at 3-1.

Walden ended up going 5.2 innings for the Fisher Cats, allowing all four New Britain runs to end his personal two-game winning streak. He surrendered 10 hits, walking one with one strikeout. Pat Dean threw 5.1 solid innings for New Britain to earn his second win of the season - both against New Hampshire.

Ochinko led the offense in game two, netting a pair of hits and an RBI. Kevin Pillar snapped out of a 1-for-22 stretch with a two singles to boost his league-leading hit total to 67.

The teams will play the third game in their series on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. The first 1,000 kids will receive a Pillow Pet presented by Northeast Delta Dental.
