Captains Swat Two Homers and Win 6-1
(Eastlake, OH) - Logan Vick smashed his second homerun of the season, in the third inning, to deep right field and the Captains (17-33) defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods (30-23) by a final of 6-1. Vick also singled and now has 11 multi hit games on the season.
Lake County scored four runs in the bottom of the second. Anthony Santander singled and came home to score on the fifth homerun of the season from Eric Haase. Then, with two outs, the Captains got three straight singles from Yhoxian Medina, Erik Gonzalez, and Dorssys Paulino to make the score 4-0.
In the top of the fifth inning, Justin O'Conner singled and moved to second on a walk. O'Conner scored on a single by Leonardo Reginatto. The score was 5-1 Lake County. The Captains got the run back in the bottom half of the inning when Dorssys Paulino scored on a wild pitch, the score which was the final was 6-1.
LHP Ryan Merritt (3-4) started for the Captains and got the win. Merritt pitched six innings, allowing four hits, one earned run, one walk and five strikeouts. Felix Sterling gave up one hit in his one scoreless inning of work. Jack Wagoner pitched two scoreless innings to extend his scoreless inning streak to twelve.
Bowling Green sent RHP Dylan Floro (3-2) to the hill to start the game. Floro took the loss after twirling six innings, and allowing eight hits, six runs and five earned runs. Floro gave up both homeruns. Jose Molina finished the games for Bowling Green by pitching the final two innings and just allowed one hit.
The Captains will hit the road on Friday to take on the Dayton Dragons in a four game series. Lake County will start RHP Mason Radeke (0-0, 0.00) to the mound to start and Dayton will counter with LHP Ismael Guillon (1-5, 7.89). First pitch is at 7:00PM
