PEARL, MS -- The Mississippi Braves defeated the Montgomery Biscuits 6-1 in the series finale at Trustmark Park to avoid the sweep and break a six-game losing skid. The M-Braves took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Barrett Kleinknecht walked, took second on a ground out to first and moved to third on an errant throw from the first baseman. Edward Salcedo followed with a walk and promptly swiped second. After Kleinknecht was cut down at home on Jose Martinez's fielder's choice, Jaime Pedroza delivered a RBI-single to center. Dan Brewer followed with another single, scoring Martinez.
Phil Gosselin was hit by a pitch to start the fifth. Christian Bethancourt singled to put runners at the corners before Christian Marrero delivered a sacrifice fly to deep right-center, extending the M-Braves lead to 3-0.
Mississippi loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the seventh. Bethancourt followed with a sacrifice fly to drive in Dan Brewer and make it 4-0. An error by the centerfielder on the throw allowed runners to advance to second and third. The catcher then airmailed the throw to third, allowing Nunez to score and make it a 5-0 game. Gosselin advanced to third on a balk before scoring on Kleinknecht's singled to short.
