Marauders Split Doubleheader With Jupiter

Rowland earns win in game two with five scoreless innings

Bradenton, Fla. - The Marauders (22-34) split a doubleheader with the Jupiter Hammerheads (29-26) on Sunday afternoon at McKechnie Field. Jupiter slugged their way to a 12-6 victory in game one, while the Marauders rode five scoreless innings from Robby Rowland (W, 3-3) to a 7-1 win in game two.

Jupiter scored four early runs and lead throughout the first game. Zack Dodson (L, 1-3) started and took the loss for Bradenton. Offensive highlights for the Marauders included a triple for Dan Gamache and a two-run homer for Chris Lashmet.

The Marauders garnered the early offense in game two. Gamache doubled to start the second inning against Anthony DeSclafani (L, 4-2). Jacob Stallings followed with his third home run of the season. The Marauders scored twice more in the third inning against the Jupiter ace.

Jupiter cut Bradenton's 4-0 lead to 4-1 in the sixth, but a three run bottom of the sixth put the Marauders safely in front. Willy Garcia hit his fourth triple of the season and Gregory Polanco added a two-RBI single.

The Marauders open a four-game series against the Daytona Cubs on Monday at McKechnie Field. The game begins at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m.
