Astros preparing for Opening Day

With opening day less than three weeks away, Pioneer Park is ready to once again open it's gates to fans. The promotional schedule has been released, individual game tickets are on sale, and after the draft, the Greeneville roster will be set.

The Greeneville Astros released their promotional schedule for the 2013 season this past Friday. Fans will once again be able to enjoy fireworks after seven home games, giveaways including an Altuve jersey t-shirt, and the annual Hometown Hero Bobblehead featuring the U.S.S. Greeneville. Every Wednesday will feature a theme night ranging from Bark in the Park to Heroes Night and weekly promotions including BOGO tickets and 2 Dollar Tuesdays.

All tickets on sale now

Individual game tickets are now available for purchase online and at the Pioneer Park ticket office. To purchase from the ticket office, either stop by the stadium or call the office at (423) 638-0411. Season tickets for the 2013 season are also now available. Fans can become season ticket holders by purchasing either full season, half-season, or 7-game firework mini-plan packages. Reid Ryan named as President, Business Operations

On May 17, 2013, Reid Ryan was introduced as the president of the Houston Astros. Ryan, the eldest son of Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan, spent his childhood running around the Astrodome, often serving as a batboy while becoming a regular fixture around the Houston clubhouse through the 1980s. As an adult, Ryan found success as president and CEO of Ryan-Sanders Baseball, LP, the founder and CEO of both the Corpus Christi Hooks and the Round Rock Express, and a member of the board of trustees for Minor League Baseball. He has also been involved in many other business ventures, including real estate, banking and the restaurant industry.

Astros on All-Star Game ballot

Fans can now vote for their favorite players for the All-Star Game online. Several Houston Astros players are on the ballot, including former Greeneville player Jose Altuve. Altuve was the only Astro to make it into the All-Star game last year. Vote to see Greeneville represented in the All-Star game again!

Houston to pick first in Draft on Thursday

The Major League Draft will begin this Thursday, June 6, with Houston once again getting the first pick. Each year, players from the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories are drafted by Major League teams. Some of the players from this year's draft will see playing time in Greeneville. Last year's number one and two picks, Carlos Correa and Lance McCullers, played the second half of the season at Pioneer Park.

The Astros front office will be out at local Greeneville events in the next couple of weeks. Friday, June 7, come see us at June Dairy Days at the Greene County Fairgrounds. On Saturday, June 15, the staff will be at the Food City Kids Day at the new Food City in Greeneville. We're now halfway through the Astros scavenger hunt! Three fans have won two tickets each to opening night by solving the clue of the week and sending in a picture. Again, all fans have to do is follow us on Facebook or Twitter, solve the clue, take a picture at that week's location, and post it to our Facebook or Twitter. There are just 3 more chances to win! An overall winner will receive the season's giveaways before anyone else receives them!
